现代科学技术的发展，早已验证了老子的说法。所有的物质存在都不是真实的，它们都只是基本粒子运动的呈现。基本粒子运动的形式变了，物质的相也就变了。而基本粒子的运动，我们既看不到、又听不到，更摸不到。那只要是有个什么东西在动，我们总会有点感觉吧，比如它这儿亮一点，那儿暗一点。没有，你确实感觉不到。但它又确实在绵绵不绝的运动着。可回归到本质，它究竟是什么呢？用我们人类的感官来看，它什么都不是，它空无一物。但你说它空无一物吧，我们看到的所有形状都是它存在的状态，我们摸到的所有物体都是它存在的现象。这究竟哪是真哪是假？哪是实哪是虚？真真假假、虚虚实实，说不清啊。一切都恍恍惚惚的。现在，我们都能意识到。基本粒子的运行规律，就是宇宙运转的客观规律，就是“道”运转的客观规律。
老子进一步提示。“道”尽管说不清、道不明，但依然是可以去体悟、去遵循的。或许，你欢迎它、体悟它时，不知道从哪里开头。你敬畏它、遵循它时，不知道从哪里尾随。但不要忘了，“道”是从古到今始终存在的，它的运转规律是可以认知、可以把握的。只要你从过去的历史进程中认知到了、把握住了“道”的规律。然后，将这种对“道”的认知和把握运用到今天的实践中，就能看到见证。认知对了、把握正确了，见证就是成功的。认知不对、没把握好，见证就会失败。成功了，我们就继续弘扬。失败了，我们就应该及时调整。最终，能从历史的事物发展中认识和把握住其本质，这就算悟道了，就算明白“道”是怎么回事了。这就是把握“道”的规律，对人类社会的价值和意义所在。
